Great idea - but cars will be first sold in Europe. Toyota admits current battery powered cars won't be widely accepted. Aside from fueling stations, price will be a killer at the start.

"production"? only 1000 in 3 years? 88k? They have a ways to go, but I guess they have to start somewhere...

What is suitable for Europe is not necessarily suitable for North America. For example, natural gas which is abundant in North America but not in Europe may become the next generation of fossil fuel in Canada and the United States.

If Norway can develop a hydrogen fuel-cell infrastructure, Called HyNor, then why can't the same hydrogen furl-cell refueling infrastructure be built in the US and Canada???
http://www.hydrogencarsnow.com/hydrogen-highway.htm
California's version of HyNor perhaps????

Nothing new.
Honda has already built a hydrogen fuel-cell car, AND they have developed a home refueling station as well.
Honda's Fuel-Cell car
Honda's Fuel-Cell Home Refueling Station
And if a small country like Norway can develop an hydrogen refueling infrastructure, named HyNor for those that want to look it up, why can't larger countries like the US and Canada do the same?

Good move, but how much is it going to cost the consumer? I'm afraid the early adopters are going to pay through the nose for this technology.

Well, if Toyota misread the market, then Chu and the Obama administration certainly did. They cut the funding on the fuel cell projects in progress and pumped billions into electric vehicles.
I guess time will tell.

It's about time someone came out with a hydrogen powered vehicle. Now if they make it big enough for a family they will corner the market.

There are many different sorts of fuel cell technologies, and they each have their advantages and disadvantages, as to operating temperatures, fragility/robustness, and the type of fuel that they can 'burn'

Yours for only $88,000! And Hyundai hopes to reduce the price to $44,000 by 2015 when they introduce it in larger numbers. Attention environmentalists: go for it!

The problem with fuel cells is that they are almost always tied to hydrogen, which is the least practical or available of the gasoline alternatives today. I have heard references to natural gas powered fuel cells which sound far more attainable.
